Haiti -One Year Later...
One year after the earthquake very little change can be seen in Haiti. One must wonder if there is really a plan to rebuild the country. Millions of people are still living in tents, Port-au-Prince is still buried under rubbles, a cholera epidemic has killed thousands, and the recent first-round of the presidential election shows the unwillingness of the politicians to take the country out of this hole.
Contributing money through organizations such as American Red Cross was not proven to be very effective perhaps the money collected by these organizations went to a general fund to be used for future disasters; it appears that little of that money has made it to Haiti. The country is suffering. Still we are encouraging you to support the charity of your choice. Additionally, it remains crucial for Health Care Professionals to continue to volunteer their time to help save lives.
Haiti Verte Foundation, Inc. Is working with the “Association Haïtienne du Génie Sanitaire et des Sciences de l’Environnement (ADISH)” to provide help from a Sanitary and Environmental angle. We believe that the problem is presented in a triangular form: Health – Sanitation- Habitat.
Almost at every corner someone was raising money for Haiti. The reality has shown that a modest amount of these moneys reach the people of Haiti. Our staffs on the ground are telling us that the misery is beyond words there is a huge need for drinking water. We want to bring solar powered water purification systems that can treat waters of creeks, rivers, lakes or wells into clean, safe drinking water.
We are not doing a fund raising but we are asking for help form manufacturers of these equipments or anyone who can help us buy the equipment as soon as possible this is the kind of investment that will make a difference in no time.
With your help and your compassion we believe the people of Haiti will survive this hell, and the country will rise from his ashes provided that the right leadership comes along. For now we can only hope.
